چکیده

More than 20 different leukocyte or tissue antigens can presently be recognized; they belong to one complex system (HL-A) which is, from the genetic point of view, very similar to the H-2 system in the mouse. Another independent system consisting of two antigens has also been well defined, the Group Five system. The methods of defining these antigens, their tissue distri bution, and complex relationships are described. The present knowledge of their chromosomal location, as derived from the analysis of family studies, is also presented and the practical implications of the occurrence of identical "alÃ-eles"in random

Frequency of Major Histocompatibility Antigens Class I in Mazandaran Province

Background and purpose: Major histocompatibility antigens are the most polymorphic components of the immune system. The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of human leukocyte antigens (HLA) in a population in Mazandaran province, Iran. Materials and methods: In a cross sectional study, peripheral blood samples were obtained from 550 people in Immunogenetics Research Center af...

Immunohistochemical localization of the mouse stage-specific embryonic antigen 1 in human tissues and tumors.

Normal human tissues and various human tumors were surveyed by immunohistochemical techniques for expression of the stage-specific embryonic antigen 1 (SSEA-1). The antibody reacted with many normal and neoplastic human tissues. In most instances, equivalent human and mouse tissues expressed SSEA-1; however, different tissue localization patterns were sometimes seen between these two species. M...

Increase of leukemia L1210 immunogenicity by Vibrio cholerae neuraminidase treatment.

Glycoprotein is an integral part of the surface structure of normal and neoplastic cells. It plays significant roles in such substances as blood group antigens (12) and histocompatibility antigens (14), and it may have important influence on the metastasis and invasion of neoplastic cells (3, 6, 8). Glycoproteins rich in sialic acid (sialoglycoproteins) are generally very poor immunogens (2). S...

The Hematopoietic System–specific Minor Histocompatibility Antigen HA-1 Shows Aberrant Expression in Epithelial Cancer Cells

Allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT) can induce curative graft-versus-tumor reactions in patients with hematological malignancies and solid tumors. The graft-versus-tumor reaction after human histocompatibility leukocyte antigen (HLA)-identical SCT is mediated by alloimmune donor T cells specific for polymorphic minor histocompatibility antigens (mHags). Among these, the mHag HA-1 was fou...

Investigation of heavy trace elements in neoplastic and non-neoplastic human thyroid tissue: A study by proton-induced X-ray emissions.

Background: Within the context of developing techniques to facilitate the diagnosis of the thyroid diseases, the elemental composition of pathological thyroid tissue (neoplastic and non-neoplastic) was investigated by proton induced X-ray emission. The PIXE has been widely used as a sensitive technique for trace elemental analysis in both biological and medical fields. Materials and Methods: Th...
